- Cost: free to walk in.

What you will find
Soda City is a producer-only market: vendors make or grow what they sell, with no resellers and no mass-produced goods. Expect farmers' produce and flowers, baked goods, canned goods, prepared food and coffee alongside makers selling jewelry, art, candles, skincare and textiles, with street musicians along the way. The vendor mix changes week to week.
Parking
On-street parking downtown is free all day on Saturdays. The two exceptions are the Five Points and Bull Street districts, where meters are enforced 9 am to 7 pm on Saturdays (City of Columbia parking FAQ). Main Street is neither, but the spaces closest to the market fill early, so arrive before 10 am or plan to walk a few blocks. The city's downtown parking map shows the garages.
Dogs
Dogs are welcome on a leash (Experience Columbia SC). Main Street gets busy as the morning goes on, so a calm dog and an early visit make it easier for everyone.
Paying
Most vendors take both cash and cards, but not all of them take every form of payment, so carry a little cash. The state's market listing shows the market accepts SFMNP (Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program) vouchers; ask the individual vendor which ones take them.
Accessibility and strollers
The sidewalks are wide enough for strollers, but the SC Department of Agriculture listing marks the market as not handicap accessible, and the sidewalks get crowded later in the morning. If you need more room, go at 9 am.
Make a morning of it
- Brunch: see our brunch guide, which includes Main Street spots a block from the market. For lunch or dinner, see downtown Columbia restaurants.
- Museums: the Columbia Museum of Art and the Nickelodeon Theatre are both on Main Street.
- State House: walk south to the State House grounds, free to explore.
- Riverfront: spend the afternoon on the flat, paved Riverfront Park canal trail at 312 Laurel St.
Tips
- Go early for the best produce and baked goods; popular items sell out.
- Bring a tote bag and a cooler bag in summer.
- Don't skip a rainy Saturday. The market runs rain or shine.
